My Travel Bucket List

Everyone has one. This is mine.

These are not only the places I want to go, but also the time of year I want to go (if applicable), and the event I want to celebrate or thing I want to do! Some of these I have completed, and you will see a check mark beside those.

(Sorry Mobile users, my check marks are somehow appearing as "Ü")

1. Visit a Cabaret in Paris ü

You know the saying, "if you go to Paris and don't see the Eiffel Tower, did you really even go?" Well, the same holds true for seeing a traditional Cabaret put on by cheerful, dramatic French women. Paris holds some of the best Cabaret shows out there, so do yourself a favor and go watch these ladies can-can! I had a blast at my first Cabaret and would definitely go again.

2. Go to a Christmas Village somewhere in Germany
Gingerbread houses are adorable. Imagine walking through a snowy, sparkling city surrounded by buildings that look like real life Gingerbread houses. Add in freshly baked Christmas treats and colorful glowing lights, and it's Christmas paradise!

3. See the Aurora Borealis in March (Alaska, Norway, or Iceland)
If seeing the Northern Lights isn't on your bucket list, you're not doing it right. The best time to see these mesmerizing wonders is January-March. March, being the less cold of the months, and it's also the time where the sky is less likely to be covered by storm clouds.

4. Celebrate New Years Eve in New York City
It's simply a right of passage.

5. Ride a Convertible down Hollywood Boulevard in the Summer

I've only had the privilege of riding in a convertible once in my life, and it wasn't the best experience. I was in the back seat and with all the wind blowing furiously against me, my hair was in dreads once we stopped. The two people in the front seat said it wasn't like that up there, so I still want to give a convertible ride another go. But only in the front seat. And I want to do it on Hollywood Blvd with the sun in my face and surrounded by palm trees.

6. Eat pasta at a local diner in Italy ü
Real Italian pasta isn't filled with five different flavors of thick cheese like Americanized pasta. And even though cheese is one of my favorite foods, there's just something about homemade pasta made by real Italians. Instead of layers of cheese, you'll taste filling combinations of herbs and oils. Add some pesto and maybe a little cheese... better than Olive Garden.

7. Zip line in the Summer (Costa Rica or South Africa)

Adventure calls! I've been zip lining once before, and I still think about it every day. I love roller coasters, heights, and speed and I quickly realized that zip lining is my kind of recreational activity. After some research, Costa Rica and South Africa have some pretty crazy zip line tours that I've definitely got to explore.

8. See my favorite band, Within Temptation, in their home country of Netherlands. ü
This, of course, is one that's a little more personal to me, but ever since I was 16 and discovered Within Temptation, a band from the Netherlands, I've been set on seeing them in their country. They hardly ever tour in the US, but I've been thankful enough to have seen them in Chicago and Nijmegen, Netherlands!

9. Frolic through a field of flowers in France in the Spring
France's countryside is known for their abundance of pretty fields of flowers, and I just want to frolic about through one.

10. Visit a winery and taste wine in Italy ü
Wine tasting is fun. Wine tasting at a tiny local winery in Northern Italy is.... funner.

11. See an Opera in Rome

I want to feel like I'm back in time and listen to a beautiful operatic Soprano female voice. In Rome, of course. Because why go see an Opera anywhere else? I might not understand a word they sing, but it's a classic experience that I almost had the privilege of doing when I went to Rome. Unfortunately, no one wanted to go with me, and I didn't want to go alone. I still regret not going alone.

12. Stay in a log cabin in the Tennessee/North Carolina Mountains in Winter

If I had a boyfriend, this would be my ideal getaway with him. Again, if he existed. Imagine getting cozy by the fire in the midst of a snowy forest. Perfection!

13. Take a train ride through New England in Autumn.
I've never been to the New England area (with the exception of NYC, but that was by plane). I want to see the beautiful Autumn colors that everyone raves about.

14. White water raft though the Swiss Alps in the Summer ü
I always wanted to white water raft in an exotic place. Doing it among the Alps on the Austria/Germany border is something that I recommend to anyone. I need to get back out there asap.

15. Visit my best friend in Brazil anytime of the year.
It's been 7 years since I've seen her, I can't wait any longer.

Of course, some of these are cliche, but I believe to live your best life, you must explore your world and go on adventures whenever you possibly can. So get out there and start planning your dreams.
